History

Nicole Jacklin School of Dance, operating since 1999.

Nicole Jacklin School of Dance opened its doors in 1999 in Tottenham on the second floor at 18 Queen St. N. and in Alliston in the Orange Hall. A need to expand in Alliston brought us to our present location at 180 Parsons Rd. units 16 and 18. Our fully equipped facilities with two locations has a combined 6000 sq. ft. studio space, sprung hardwood and Rosco flooring along with tumbling mats and ballet barres. We offer both recreational and competitive level dance experiences.

We are especially proud of our highly qualified and skilled teaching staff. They always provide an ideal dance experience for all students. Our teachers have achieved many levels of qualifications, including: Royal Academy of Dance certifications, Canadian Dance Teacher Association certifications, University diplomas specializing in Dance and Drama, Acrobatique Certification, St. John’s Ambulance Certification, National Ballet School of Canada Pre-School Training. Additionally, every year our teachers attend a variety of training programs and workshops.

Whether your child wants to pursue a career in dance, to dance competitively or prefers taking one or more classes per week recreationally, we strive to create a fun and enthusiastic atmosphere while developing everyone to their fullest potential- no matter their level of dance.

Our dance year begins in early September and concludes in late May/early June with a year-end recital that showcases each student’s progress and talents. We strongly believe in age appropriate music, choreography and costumes. Drop by our studio in Alliston to watch recital DVDs from previous years and see for yourself what our students and teachers work together to achieve.

Ballet is fundamental in the development of a dancer and is therefore highly recommended for all dancers and mandatory in our competitive program. Not all of our ballet students do exams but if you child has reached the level recommended for an exam, his/her teacher will present that opportunity to the parent/guardian. We have a 98% success rate in students passing the Royal Academy of Ballet Exams from the Pre-Primary level to Professional Advanced 2. Students from our school have been accepted into the National Ballet summer program, Quinte Ballet School professional program, Royal Winnipeg Ballet summer program, York University’s Dance program, George Brown’s Dance program and some students have gone on to pursue a career as teacher and performers in dance and theatre.

Our Competitive Dance program is for the student who loves to perform; who is serious about taking their dance capabilities to another level. Besides continuous growth and improvement in dance, Competitive students develop lifelong friendships and memories. We offer novice, precompetitive and competitive programs. Over the years, our team has won numerous overall awards in all categories, many students are offered scholarships and our teachers earn choreography awards. If dance is your passion and you are willing to work hard, ask your teacher if the competitive program is right for you.

The overall development and safety of your child is most important to us. We help build confidence, poise, and self-discipline through constant support, guidance and accomplishment. All of these attributes will ensure success in any student’s future endeavors.
